About

So, who am I? A wedding photographer? A portrait photographer? A poser?  A lifestyle photographer?  In all honesty I am a little bit of everything.  I am a gal who enjoys documenting other’s life moments while putting my own spin on things artistically.

All photographers started somewhere, so here’s my little story.

Looking back into my childhood I see that taking photos was a big part of my life. I used to set up and photograph my Barbie’s wedding, complete with a bouquet toss while holding the flowers in the air making sure it looked as though my Barbie really was chunking her bouquet to her BFFs.  I used to dress up, pose and photograph my younger neighbors at the ripe ole’ age of EIGHT!  As the years passed I would document my life with a camera, the way most young girls would… but never had an artistic vision.  I started to really enjoy photography after (surprise surprise) the birth of my son in 2003, before photography was quite so ‘cool.’  I purchased my first DSLR in 2005 at Costco, you know the $1k kits they sold?  From there I had a deeper desire to become ‘good’ at taking photos.  In 2007 I snagged a second shooting gig with a local gal - Heather Essian and that’s when I learned the ins and outs of photography. Figuring out all of the technical jargon, photoshop and even what the heck manual mode meant.  Through the years my shooting style has evolved, my editing has changed drastically and I am a much more confident photo-gal.  I was teaching elementary school from 2006-2009 and was, fortunately, able to leave my job to pursue photography and motherhood.  What a blessing it has turned out to be!

I am smitten with my job, truly.  It’s not always easy and really not as ‘glam’ as it may appear – it’s running your own business – but it’s simply greatness and I feel quite privileged to ‘love what I do’ as I know not many people can say that.  I really enjoy all types of sessions from engagements to commercial to newborns to documenting my own children… they all bring me joy and challenges. I am forever evolving, changing and growing – which I love! The day I become stagnant is the day I should put my camera down for a bit.

Most importantly I am a lover of Christ, a wife to my absolute love, a mother to our three beautiful and brilliant children, a daughter, a sister, a friend and deep down am just a girl who wants to look back at her life and love where it took her in spiritual growth, true love and wrapped up in an abundance of happiness.

Take a peek around and I hope you enjoy what you see.

Cheers, Arden
