Tori: Senior

Meet Tori!

She’s going to be an Okie, before we know it.

(Where I was born!)

Her love of bright colors made me so happy!

Tori is easy going, beautiful and funny… AND smart too!

A perfect package for a soon to be freshman in college!

Enjoy this lovely lady.

.love.

Baby C

Oh precious Cannon.

I walked in and fell head over heels…

He was just a handsome fella.

His mommy and daddy are so kind.

They really made us feel at home and are oh-so-chill, really laid back and cool!

Cannon gave us a run for our money – not wanting to sleep until it was time to go; so we stayed a bit longer!

So glad we did as we got more images of this beautiful baby boy.

Congrats to Lauren and Bob… he is perfect!

.love.

Loved the spiral stair and he was yawning!

He wasn’t upset, just a sweet little facial expression as he was dosing off.

I couldn’t resist… all of those precious wrinkles and pouty lips, swoon.

Mama Lauren, girl you are beautiful!

Maternity: Shannon

What can I say?

I LOVE ME SOME SHANNON.

She is the owner and talent behind Something You Make Up Artistry.

*If you ever need beautimous make up and hair… she’s your girl!

We have just clicked… while only hanging out a handful of times, we’re like two old friends.

She’s quick witted, smart, talented and beautiful… quite the package if you ask me!

We met for some quick maternity portraits… in some beautiful sunlight.

I can’t wait to meet your little ‘monkey’ boy!

Congrats Shannon, you are stunning!

“5D Markiii Review” – Short and Sweet

So as soon as I saw the Markiii was soon to come out I called my local camera store…

They were able to put me on a wait list, for the dear sweet arrival.

Joseph at FORT WORTH CAMERA called me when those bad boys were on their way.

Talk about service. I just love my guys (and few gals) at FW Camera, they always take care of me. :)

I went in to ‘check it out.’ Threw on a their lens (I wanted the beloved 85mm 1.2) and their CF card to do some test shots.

Luckily and insanely enough – my kids were with me to practice on.

I say insane because as I am tinkering around with the camera my kids are running around and Parx falls flat on her face busting her nose, spraying blood all over her WHITE linen dress and their carpet.

Oh the joys of toting your silly and wild creatures into the camera store.

I bet you have never had your camera fellas grab towels for you to help clean up dripping blood, while grabbing the baby out of your arms so you can tend to the tot.

Joseph was literally ringing me up while holding Edie on his hip, bouncing up and down to make her laugh… one reason I will ALWAYS shop here and support them!

Thanks Joseph and Jeff, for your help and attentiveness!

I snapped some images and swoon… fell head over heels for my new fella.

Today I wanted to share just a few things I immediately noticed about the 5D Markiii camera, I have not had much time to play around with it… so I will have more info to share later!

Now, I am not a techie girl – very hands on, learn through trial and error, and verbal questions. So, this review of the 5D Markiii – is pretty easy to read and elementary. :)

A few great changes from the Markii to the Markiii:

1. The Body and Grip – perhaps my Markii had a good feel when I first purchased it and can’t remember, but the 5D Markiii had a nice non-slip grip to it. Feels great in my hands!

2. The Power Switch – has moved over by the mode dial!  Just one less thing on the back of the camera allowing for…

3. Mode Dial – Okay this seems silly, but one of my FAVORITE physical changes is the mode dial. It has a lock on it, so you have to push a button to swap modes. Why is this a big deal? Well, I am sure many of you who own the Markii notice that your camera will swap to BULB mode on it’s own, during a shoot. Now, this CANNOT happen. :)

4. Bigger Screen size – which is always great when shooting images where you need to make sure your images are sharp and clear! Plus you can view one image, side by side with another one!

Ck this out… I need this for my own chidren!

5. AF Points – I am sure you have all read about the 61 AF Points. This is a BIG DEAL. I am always recomposing my shot in the Markii, but with the 5D Markiii you have so many options of focal points, that you will not have to recompose! So far it seems like they are very accurate and spot on. You can use both wheels and joystick to move these points, which will probably become easy and fast for me – over the next few weeks of shooting.

6. ISO capability – is GREAT! I loved the Markii, but the 5D Markiii has even BETTER Noise control… and this flippin’ bad boy goes up to 25,600 ISO, holy krikees batman.

7. Video Mode – is now on a switch, which seems a little bit more user friendly.

8. Memory Card – now has a back up SD slot. It is NOT built for two CF cards, but I will say with my poor luck with memory cards and malfunctions recently, I think this is GREAT to cover your rear end when shooting!

9. Battery – IS THE SAME as the markii. Who cares right?! I DO! Just one more thing I do not have to buy… I now have two chargers and THREE batteries that fit both of my cameras. This is great for wedding photographers – and destination travel!

10. Canon – I am very confident that Canon will continue to be pro-active about fixing ‘issues’ and keeping up with competitors – like Nikon. I was getting really nervous about the focus capability, but feel that the 5D Markiii has been built to resolve previous issues! I adore Canon glass… and don’t want to leave my lovely friend that has been on my hip since 2007!

*I haven’t read the manual yet, so bear with me… I have also heard you can change .CR2s to .JPEGs in camera! That is a function that some people may find to come in handy. I also heard about a silent shutter… great for ceremonies and newborn sessions!

One bummer bob issue, I am having to use the Adobe DNG converter, because currently LR4 AND CS5 are not supporting the 5D Markiii’s raw files. GO FIGURE, doesn’t this always happen?

Here are some links for Photoshop CS6 BETA – that we all know will be the ONE program that supports these files. :) :(

Took me all day yesterday to download and install these programs, just to view my images. Hopefully I can save you some time!

CS6 PHOTOSHOP BETA

Camera Raw 6.7 and DNG CONVERTER

Adobe Lightroom 4

Some images… taken with the markiii, nothing to fabulo-so – as I have only had it for a day and a half! :)

*Also most of these images are VERY high ISO – 1000-2000! :)

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them in the comments section below!

I figured I’d leave the blood on – war wounds for this camera!

Pierson wanted to use the new 5D Markiii!

Baby N

This family has a special place in my heart.

I photographed baby Finley when she was a newborn almost two years ago.

Baby Nash was a little angel and slept the entire time.

I’m so grateful for returning clients!

We love shooting newborns and are so happy to have such sweet and tiny clients!

Enjoy the pictures of this precious, handsome little boy.

.love.

Baby E

I am so grateful for schedule flexibility.

This mama emailed me when baby was 8 days old.

Two days later I met the precious babe at their lovely home.

Sweet Eva was ready to go when we arrived.

She slept like a dream and was so dainty and perfect.

I really love incorporating the girliness in baby girl photos!

Thanks to Erin and Perry for inviting us into their beautiful and creative home.

She had SO many unique pieces that I was able to incorporate into the session.

I love bringing in the families ‘style’ to reflect their aesthetic flair in images.

Enjoy this beautiful family of three!!!

.love.

The nursery was so soft and sweet… full of elegant pieces and rustic charm.

I think you’lll LOVE looking at her dreamy space.

C+T: Engaged

Chelsea and Tony were a fun pair…

We photographed on the DAY the time changed and it threw me for a loop.

I was running around like a headless chicken trying to get my vision straightened out.

They probably thought I was a looney-tick.

Which, I kind of am.

Finally I got into the groove and we put it into action.

C+T are a fun loving and good lookin’ couple.

They showed their silly and sweet side throughout the shoot.

I can’t wait to see them as a bride and groom later this year!

I have a feeling there will be lots of laughter, great candids and bright spirits at their wedding.

Enjoy these two love birds…

Baby C: Peek

This precious girl was SO GREAT for us.

I love how dainty and feminine baby girls are.

Though it was a dreary and rainy day, we were able to get some bright and cheery photographs!

Enjoy these lovely little images of the new family of three!

.love.

T+P Engaged: Peek

I met Tricia, several years ago… when I began teaching.

When she was ‘younger.’ :)

Her brother was in my FIRST class ever… in 2006!

I photographed her sister for senior photos… and have always kept in touch with their mama (LOVE YOU MARY!).

Tricia has been talking about an engagement session for a while… ya know, one day having me photograph them?

NOW she’s engaged (way to go P) and I was so honored to FINALLY capture Patrick and Tricia.

He works for the railroad, so it was ideal to incorporate the trains into their session.

They also have a love for The Modern, so we finished up there.

Enjoy the peek – at these two BEAUTIFUL L<3VE BIRDS!

Thanks for enduring the non stop winds, the gray blanket of clouds, the gravel roads (in heels), and the sprinkles of rain – for me… for these. :)

.love.

A little game of catch the fish and lasso the bull… ;)

T’s eyes are stunning and entrancing.

I had to photograph those bad boys, up close and personal.

Meet Natalie

Besides having an impressive resume, Natalie proved to be great for helping with this business.

Why?

She did not give up on me!

Making sure to contact me about the job opening, so that I wouldn’t forget to respond… or let her know what the hey I was doing!

I am a hot mess! :)

(Which is precisely the reason why I have hired someone)

After weeks of emailing we finally met at Starbucks.

She was sitting at the first table early… as I came in a couple of minutes LATE while pushing my massive tandem stroller into the smalle coffee shop all winded and disheveled from unpacking my crew.

Why she didn’t run away, I can’t tell ya!? :)

We had a great chat and I wanted to see if we were a good fit…

Well, we were. :)

She’s a Fashion major at TCU and her schedule has permitted a nice start for some ‘back of the house’ tasks of APP during the week.

I wanted to introduce y’all to her, as she may be answering emails, FB posts, blogging and other stuff behind the scenes.

Now, a HUGE perk of working for me… a fun and FAST photo session.

I think she did awesome for taking these at 8am in my front yard!

Meet the beautiful, sweet, fashionable and silly Natalie:

What’s your nickname(s)?

Nit Nat, or just Nat

You have a twin, name one trait you two share and one that makes you total opposites?

We have the same laugh! And when Hilary’s laughing, I’m laughing.  We are very opposite when it comes to our passions- I play the piano and she runs the 3k steeplechase!

Here is $1,000 for a Spring Break Vacay… where do you go and why?

Paris, France.  It’s always been my dream to visit.  I’m studying French and Fashion so its the perfect place for me.

(Teach me French, s’il vous plait!)

Best college class so far?

I really enjoyed my Nature of Values class.  There was a lot of reading and discussion involved.

Favorite sweet treat?

I love Nutella, and chocolate chip cookies.

If you could only where two colors for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Black-because it goes with everything and Blue- because it comes in so many beautiful shades.

Snickers, Rolos or Whatchamacallit?

Snickers

(You know this means we are meant to be, I love me some Snickers… and perhaps we should have some in the office!)

Rollerskates or Rollerblades?

Neither!  I’m paranoid of breaking my wrists so I stay away from anything with wheels that doesn’t have a seat belt.

(ha, should I be worried about you in the roller chair?)

 Best season is …

FALL.  I love when the leaves change colors and the air gets chilly at night.

Texas is awesome because…

You can wear cowboy boots whenever you want and spring comes early!

Pizza, salad or sandwich?

Sandwich, I have one everyday for lunch.

Heels or flats?

Nothing beats a killer pair of heels..

 Stripes or polka dots?

Stripes!

(me too!)

What musical artist gets you chair dancing?

I love singing to Taylor Swift with my twin!  We always sing in the car.

If you could have one job for the next 15 years, what would it be?

I want to work in Fashion forecasting so anything that involved color, fabric, trends, traveling and fashion would make me happy.

Favorite Movie?

Match Point and Pride and Prejudice

Name something a young gentleman can do, that makes you think about him… the next day?

Send me flowers and I’ll think about you for a whole week :)

Best thing about snagging this new job?

I love looking through all the engagement photos.  There’s something about the way the couples look at each other, its beautiful and inspiring!

I’m also excited to learn all about photo editing.. and of course, replying to those emails!

(Um, Nat… only if we can get the email WORKING first…) :)
